Description
This text may be used in class, during individual lessons, or for independent study. The pictoral, keyboard-based approach is particularly flexible, applying well to all forms of instrumental and vocal education.

The general approach to understanding theory is based on Schoenberg and Berg’s 20th century tone row approach, which numbers the keys in order to identify patterns on the keyboard. Topics begin with small intervals and scale patterns, including major scales and all 3 forms of minor scales. Chromatic, whole tone, pentatonic scales are all included, as well as modes (jazz), twelve-tone rows, and serial rows. Next, large intervals are covered, and finally, chords and arpeggios.
Big print, color, and keyboards allow students to quickly grasp concepts. A workbook, sold separately, allows students to practice their skills until mastery has been achieved.
